Biography

Andre Avanessian was born in Chicago, IL in 1985. He received his BFA from Columbia College in 2004.  Fascinated by film and cinema he moved to Los Angeles to work in the Hollywood studio system. Shortly after he realized he wanted to operate outside that system and become a solo artist.
In 2013, he was accepted to The School of Visual Arts in New York City and studied in the renowned photography department until his graduation. As of 2025, Andre is living in the Chicago area making works in the vast space of multimedia and raising his young son. Andre enjoys watching films, hiking and nature walks, creative writing, making music, and comedy. Andre is of Armenian ancestry and speaks the language fluently.
